We are truly grateful for our committed Eagle staff. We've had the opportunity to come together for back-to-back January PD that has focused on Eagle connections, wellness, and review of our progress toward shared building goals for SEL and literacy. From our hallway Island visits to our whole group PD and engaged collaborating in PLCs, we've embarked upon our next steps together for quarter 3.
Our Eagle focus in January has been going strong. Classrooms are engaged with our Benchmark Advance and Into Math resources daily, and integrating valuable learning about MLK this past week.
Due to the weather, Sioux City Community Schools will have a two-hour late start tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21. School will begin at the following times: Elementary School - 10:30 am; Middle School - 9:45 am; and High School - 9:55 am. Please note that tomorrow is a "B" Day for our middle and high schools.
EMS counselors and peer helpers stopped by today to talk with incoming Spartans -- our 5th Grade SOARing Eagles. Students were attentive, intrigued and filled with inquiry about the transition to middle school. We are so proud of their progress and look forward to even more!
This past week, our Eagle students completed the PBIS boot camp to review expectations here at Morningside Elementary. They did a great job showing and reviewing SOARing behavior!

It's been chilly, but such a wonderful week being back together. From teacher time during literacy using our small group Benchmark materials, to 1st grade using their map and direction skills to find special treasure, and even our PK exploring the building to compare and document various light sources, students and staff have jumped right back into this SOARing thing we call :) learning.
Morningside Eagles -- It's time for our Eagle Hall of Fame announcement! I hope everyone has a great break!
Every day is a great day to visit Mside STEM -- have a wonderful holiday break Eagle families. Stay warm and safe!
Our Mside teachers and staff truly value our Eagle connections. Nearly every PD Friday launches with a moment to high-five, say "hi," and start our SOARing and learning time together. Thankful for these wonderful educators that accomplish so much as they work so hard together.
STEM creations with a tasty twist in our 1st Grade.
A few more past wintry moments shared by our preschool group for National Gingerbread House Day -- way to create!
