Kindergarten students learning about force and motion. They are building roller coasters to make a marble get from one end to the other. Gravity keeps the marble on the track and steeper inclines make the marble go faster. The kids had so much fun!

Due to the weather, all SCCSD schools will dismiss two hours early today (3/16/23).
Downtown office will close at 1:30 PM.

Dear Parents/Guardians of Morningside STEM Elementary Students:
Starting on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, we are challenging students at Morningside STEM Elementary to read 216,580 minutes. To prove that we have read these minutes, each student will be bringing home reading logs for the challenge along with this letter. Please keep track of how long your child reads each night while at home. (Younger students can count the time that someone reads to them.). Only minutes of reading that happen outside of school will count. In order to reach this goal, all students 3rd grade and above should read a minimum of 15 minutes every night. Kindergarten through 2nd grade students should read for a minimum of 10 minutes every night. Please have your student return the correct reading log each Wednesday to their classroom teacher. We will total the minutes each week and post them in the cafeteria for all students to see.
There will be special prizes throughout the 4 weeks for students helping in meeting this goal of 216,580 minutes!
As an additional incentive for the students, the class that has the highest percentage of students meeting their goals at the end of the four weeks will receive the grand prize. For more information, check out the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-R2yfW9DQ4
Thank you for your support with our reading challenge.

Congratulations to CJ for winning the drawing for the prize package from 3-5 family math night! Thank you to our PTA for providing the prize!
