Eagles -- we hope your summer is starting wonderfully. We are sharing an alert that our playground area at Morningside, and a few other schools in the district, is temporarily closed until later in June as the grass field areas have been reseeded. We've confirmed with our O&M district team that our playground should be open in less than 3 weeks (mid June). Thank you for your understanding as this will allow the grass areas to have a strong start for fall.

Iowa law requires students to have certain immunizations, vision screenings, and dental screenings before starting school in the fall.
⚠️Your student will not be able to attend school in the fall without proof of the required immunizations and screenings⚠️
Please make sure your student is up to date before the first day of school. You can find the complete list of necessary immunizations and screenings on our website: https://www.siouxcityschools.org/page/vision-dental-screening-immunization-requirements

Miss Dreessen's first grade class is celebrating the end of the school year with a glow party!

Morningside Eagles -- It's time for our May Eagle Hall of Fame announcement.

Our 5th Grade Eagles' end of year party has been going on all day to celebrate the hard work of these SOARing Eagles. Thank you for all the wonderful years at Mside STEM & know you will be missed. We look forward to watching you grow and SOAR even more in your next adventure.

🚨 Attention Families 🚨
Student medication + supplies will be sent home with your child on the last day of school. If you would like to make other arrangements, please contact the school office before the last day. Unused medication that remains at school will be disposed of.

Special thanks to CF Industries as they helped our 4th Grade Eagles compare various materials in their water filtration lab. This is year two of our STEM collaborations with our CF community partners and we look forward to many more!

Kindergarten has been learning a lot about life cycles of plants and animals during science. Some of the community partners they have been working with are Kari from the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center, Jody from Adam's Nature Preserve, and Zach in LeMars who provided the eggs that hatched recently. There has been some exciting learning taking place in Kindergarten!

Here at Morningside, our staff wellness committee works to highlight each special day of the month. This week admin reaped positive inspiration from all the students and staff letters and posters of encouragement on their notice of National Principal's Day. Admin even wanted to share a snippet and expressed that these moments with Eagle feedback are the reasons they truly love what they do! Mrs. Krotz and Mr. Clayborne also wanted to share their most sincere, smile-filled thank you for making this a top-notch Morningside week!

Special thanks to our Mside ELL Team. They set the scene and brought such a wonderful Cinco de Mayo experience to our building and staff to end the week!

Our 2nd Grade group made a “chain of strength” this week to end their Character Strong focus on cooperation. They were surprised to see how long it got and it was a great visual for how much stronger we are when we work together!

Morningside Eagles -- It's time for our April Eagle Hall of Fame announcement.

Morningside Eagle Hall of Fame announcement!

Due to the weather and tornado watch, all district activities and events have been canceled this evening. This includes Beyond the Bell, practices and rehearsals, and night school. Thank you.

It was such a wonderful night for the Eagles 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade band and music concerts this year. They put on a fantastic show this evening and we can't wait for Round 2 with Kinder, 2nd & 4th on Thursday.

Thank you so much to Peoples Bank and their fun and meaningful presentation today -- teaching our 1st Grade students how to save! They come back for round 2 Friday!

What makes a start back from break greater than great....an Eagle coming to read to an admin as a class reward they picked to take! In fact, special thanks to all for the wonderful start back with our Eagles today! We are so glad you had a safe and relaxing break!

Spring break begins this week!

To experience the full scope of Youth Art Month this March, 5th Graders made a trip to The Art Center this week. They were able to view some of the student work on display as well as engage in some creative time with Mrs Miller, our cherished Morningside Art Teacher!
